Jesus is coming closer to the culmination of His work. He has revealed Himself over and over again, showing greater and greater power each time. Now the Jews are prepared to play the part that God has called them to play. Jesus is no longer walking in the open so that His work might take place at the proper time and location.
Jesus will come to Jerusalem to the Passover celebration. It will be at this place that He will do the work that will save all His people. He will glorify God and show forth the perfect love of God. He will become the Passover lamb. He will die, and by His blood we will be saved. He will be buried, but on the third day He will arise. He will show Himself to be truly God.
The Jews think they are finally getting rid of Jesus and things are going to go back to normal. However, this is far from the truth. Jesus is about to blow up everything they have known. He is going to transform the world. The nation and their position will go away, but Christ’s people will continue on.
