We see two of the persons of the Godhead in conversation in these verses. The Father and the Son are speaking about the coming hour. Jesus’ human soul was troubled. He was going to know the wrath of His Father. He wants another way, but he acquiesces to the will of God.
Christ set yet another example for us. Even in the midst of this trial He patiently endures the suffering and trusts in the Father’s plan. We are encouraged that this is a short time. It is for a season. Here it is called “this hour”. We may suffer as a part of God’s plan, but it is only for a season.
God glorified Christ’s suffering. We glorify God when we stand in His power during times of suffering, especially when we suffer for the name of Christ. May Christ’s Words encourage us and may we draw strength in Him.
