Jesus does not say much about this idea of righteousness. He is going to the cross to become the righteousness that we must have to be saved. This was His passion, His purpose, and His plan. It will become clear to the disciples after Christ has gone. They will have the Holy Spirit to teach them, from the scriptures, all that Jesus has done for them after He has gone to the Father in heaven.
