Some may misunderstand this verse thinking it says God will give us whatever we want. God is not a genie that gives us whatever we wish for. God gives us what we need. Our attitude toward prayer does not need to be a selfish one. Asking for God’s intercession in our lives is only a part of prayer. We should also be praising God for who He is and thanking Him for all that He has done for us. We should be using prayer as a means of confession of our sins, asking for forgiveness, and seeking help to overcome them.
