Jesus has hinted at and used figures of speech describing His coming death and resurrection. Now, He is telling them that the time is near and that they will understand all He has said to them. The Spirit would bring to their remembrance all that Christ had said, and He would show them what Christ meant. This reminds us that we do not understand everything about the Bible the first time we read it. Sometimes, we have to read it over and over again and let the Holy Spirit show us the truth revealed in Scripture. Just like with the disciples, it may seem confusing at first, but the Lord will work in you and open your eyes to the meaning of His words. Trust in the Spirit to guide you, and do not give up if you don't understand a certain passage.
