A mistake you could make is to think that everything Jesus gives us (or even most of it) is in the future. While it is true that we look forward to a better eternity, there is a great deal that we have even right now. We know God by faith in His son Jesus Christ.
To know Jesus is to know the Father. If you know Jesus then you know and have seen the Father. This shows the closeness of the relationship between Jesus and the Father, as well as the closeness between you and Jesus.
God is not a complete mystery to us now. You can truly know Him through Jesus. You can know Him right now. I do not mean you will know of Him or about Him, but really know Him so that your life is changed and you can glorify and enjoy Him even now.
Your understanding of worship should be changed by this truth. If you know God now then you can come into His presence now and worship Him now. Do you realize this when you come into worship? We do not worship a God who is far off from you. He is rather a God who is close to you through Jesus.
